Kort beskrivelse

Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation Ltd, subsequently named NRK, has initiated this Request for Information (RFI) process, which will potentially be followed up by Request for Proposal (RFP) process with the intention of replacing our current Automation/Playout.

This system has reached End Of Life and needs to be replaced and modernized. It has been a stable and reliable installation, but due to its age we are running with a higher risk than desirable. We have major shortages both on support and spare parts. It is based on Legacy integration with stand-alone video servers, routers, graphic generators, vision mixers and is not set to meet the strategic editorial and technical development needed.

Today’s workflows are based in the linear world, but we need an operation which can serve a wider publishing strategy. NRK’s focus is on online publishing both live and on-demand, beside our linear channels.

There are several reasons for why we are going out with a second RFI now. Among these are the need for alignment of the current technological flexibility and how futureproof available systems are against the technological changes we observe.

We ask the market of suppliers for input and comments on the draft RFP and the questions in the invitation to RFI 2.0, – preferably with recommendations and references to how we can handle the technological challenges and aspirations presented in this document. If you are familiar with these challenges, we want to invite you to respond to our invitation, and possible subsequent 1:1 meetings with suppliers who have valuable insight.

Execution of the dialogue and Tender process
In the invitation you will find a tentative time plan, we gradually ramp up to the procurement process, we will outline the highlights here:
NRK will invite participants from the previous RFI process to review and comment on our pre-RFP documents.  In order to best understand your feedback we would be very pleased if you could structure your feedback according to the questions we have listed in the invitation.

The responders are asked to continue the communication directly with Mr. Martin Johan Eggan (martin.johan.eggan@nrk.no). This include sending their response directly to him.

When we are ready to announce our RFP - interested suppliers will be invited to submit an application to qualify for the Tender procedure. Subsequently, qualified suppliers will be invited to participate in Tender process for a contract on the new Multi-channel Continuity automation and playout or parts thereof. This will focus on choosing suitable vendors with sufficient financial strength to fulfil the contract, as well as the ability to prove suitable experience.

We expect to continue the dialogue with the market up until the RFP. By then we expect to have a complete RFP to announce.

Please download and read the enclosed invitation under the tab “documents”.
